Last night my brother and his family took me out to dinner for my birthday. While we waited for a table my 2 nephews and I played duck duck goose. My 5 year old nephew plays it this way "Little foot, Little foot, Petrie!" In Defense of Food: A Book review

I recently finished the book In Defense of Food. First off I know what you're thinking "Shit, this girl can read?" Don't worry it was an audio book. I have too many Text books I supposed to be real reading.
I hate processed food now we'll see how long that lasts.
I am more conscious about what I eat and ask myself "is this even real food?"
I've started to re-examine my relationship with food which Paula says is similar to those of anorexics

I'm giving it 4 out of 5 Photoshopped kittens.

I dog sat. He helped me the lawn. I love that dog. Then and I made a breakfast of weird pancakes and fresh.
After I took to the dog park and then back to his owner,. I cleaned when I go home. After (minus Blair bear) went and got a treat at . Later I went with Travis. I climbed a few 5-7s and did some . I had a lot of fun. We were in the area so I stopped by my mom's and saw . To wrap up the night we played a little .And now it's tired in here .

The Bible: a book review

After months of reading, I finally finished The New Testament; again. I love the four gospels the most. I'd like to learn more about Peter, he's my type of guy. He's was a passionate person who LOVED the savior. I like that.

Paul seems nice enough, he was into writing letters, being imprisoned and such.

Revelations is confusing.

Why does the end of the new testament say "The End"? I find that funny. Maybe they just put it there so people would have a sense of completion after reading so much.

All in all I feel very blessed for being Christian. I am very grateful for the continual blessings I receive and for the kittens.

I love going to movies. The whole thing is such an event. Sneaking in candy, being mad at how much tickets cost, sitting in a large dark room letting yourself get caught up in the cheesy romance or action. And the previews! Oh the previews!! I just love it. But some one out there is trying to ruin OUR movie experience! And I'm pissed. Everyone knows you go to the movie on time to see the previews. The previews set the mood, and often when it comes to Nicholas Cage movies they're better than the movies themselves. Some idiot in the higher ups in Megaplex Theaters has decided to neglect fully dimming the lights during previews. Whoa whoa whoa, NO DIM ON THE LIGHTS? We want the full experience! Turn the lights completely off you nimwits! If people come in late and can't see that's their own damn fault. Plus they can use whatever version of the iphone they have to light their way to their seat.

And it get's worse. I don't want to push anyone into an episode of depression, but it gets worse. Stay strong and read on. After they're done showing the previews in the well lit theater they show TWO local commercials. How can one get into the movie watching mood when we can still see everything around you and then these local commercials throw you back into the reality of being in Utah and completely destroyed the movie experience!!! I shant go to a movie again... at full price. BLAH.

I digress.

I went riding with Van and Beau after work today. Image me on my little 150cc scooter with awkwardly straight poster next to Van and Beau on their 1000cc bullet bikes. This outing up'ed my street cred, even at the sacrifice of Van and Beau's reputation (which I truly appreciate). I just kept laughing and giggling at what this look like to others.

I want to write more. Maybe just random thoughts about my love for cats, maybe short stories, or maybe tales of how one of the sweet sweet kids I work with told me to f@#$ off. The point is, I've got things to say. I know what you're thinking, "You've got unlimited cell minutes with your mom just tell her." Well you know what?! Sometimes she's hard to get a hold of.

Now the main concern- How can I write and convey content if I "don't know how to spell" and "don't know or embraces all the rules of English grammar?" The answer is easy, (and no I'm talking about young naive girls who just met Austin Rory Hackett). I'm talking about Austin Rory Hackett. My now hired and official blog editor. (Austin I was really serious on the phone last night about you edited my blog). So anytime something is misspelled, doesn't flow, or is boring, it is not my fault. It is now Austin's fault.

Dream I had

I had this crazy dream where I lived in a small hip hair salon. My living situation consisted of a bed off in a side room where product would normally be displayed. In this dream I was content with my living situation- it was very cheap for New York rent (yes, it was in a mall in New York) and I got great hair advice. As long as I wasn't home during business hours I had no problems with the stylists. One morning, as I was about my daily routine of brushing my teeth and washing my face, Nancy tells me I can no longer use the salon restrooms or shower. I was okay with having no place to shower but, I was pissed I had no place to wash my face (got my priorities straight). I went back to my make shift room frustrated, I found an additional bed in my room and three Asian girls- Irene Kim, Grace Kim and Sue Kim (I was going to use the names of famous Asian women, but it turns out there aren't any besides Kim Jong il). "Oh are you my new roommates? How much are you paying for rent" I ask one of the girls. It turns out just one of them was my roommate and she was paying nothing for rent. I felt a little ripped off. Yes, my rent was only $350 dollars and the location was ideal, right next door to a hot dog on a stick, but why was new roommate paying nothing? Her answer- "tie to the runner". In my dream this answer made perfect sense, and maybe in reality it does too.

I woke up feeling overly grateful that I had a bed room all to myself with no Asians any where around. I was also grateful Paula let me use the water for my daily hygiene needs.

Traveling cats

I was given this crazy cat lady action figure plus cats by Jon Cox as a joke, but I fell in love with these little kitties (I threw the lady away, sorry Jon Cox, it resembles my future too much). As tradition would have it every Sunday I (and Irene Kim) would have a photo shoot during Sunday school with these kitties (as can be seen on facebook) our main theme was the seven deadly sins (and they were deadly). Unfortunately, my ward has split (thanks Mormon Church!) and unfortunately I'm a devout Mormon (thanks self-sustaining faith!) and so the kitty Sunday pictures have come to a close. But a new chapter has began. The Traveling cats (sort of like the traveling pants but less inseam and more meow scene). The first trip these little kitties took was to New York via Paula Air.

My first book

Lately I've been into the idea of writing a book. Nothing fancy or in the young adult fiction section, I'm not that good . Just some children novels and self help books. I would urge authors who can write stick with the adult non-fiction, fiction, cook books and short essays; you have your glory, stay out the illiterates sections!

Any who, my first, well not my first but the one idea I'd like to mention now, is a self help book for the gentlemen caller. It's called, "How to pick up on pregnant chicks and other single moms." This book is aimed for men who worried about getting a lady pregnant (because they fear their genes aren't acceptable to be pass on to the next generation they often wonder with disgust how their ancestors made it this far, or because they like a lady with some baggage-emotional and physical, etc.,).

Here's a brief look at the first chapter:

ch. 1 pick up lines and locations
Ideal locations for meeting pregnant women are outside of doctor's offices and lamaze classes. Wait patiently until you see a lady that catches your fancy, ready yourself with some of these foolproof lines:
-"pregnant looks good on you!"
-"I never learned to read, but you got FINE written all over you"

It's also a good idea to yell stuff to passing kids, to let your ladies know your good with children. Here are some great friendly lines:

I've just been doing a lot of grandma stuff- crocheting, knitting, going to home depot, talking about my grand kids.

I'm excited for Christmas, mainly for Christmas presents. I have some ideas for gifts that are exceeding their original awesomeness potential. I'll put pictures up after the season.

I'm also excited for friends coming home for the holidays, mainly Austin Rory, (and you guys that I was done obsessing over that guy, listen, I will be done when somebody steps up to the plate and is as funny as him and saves their funny stories for me and laughs at all my jokes and says that I'm really funny and tricks* me into kissing them while wearing that brown sweater. That's all you have to do).

Other things I'm into as of late- Drake, going to Jazz games, and dinner groups.

*the word "trick" is used to save face. other words that are true and a bit more shameful- gets, dares, or just take out that whole last bit of the sentence and put "I willing kissed him but his arrogance couldn't hide the fact that he kissed 3 girls (one of which was in the same location) prier to me in the same week wearing that same brown sweater."

But don't think I'm judging or making fun of them cause I give them candy at least 4 times a week and help them learn how to round) Anywho, yesterday near the end of school we were watching channel one and the fake news anchor says, "and that's your news for October 1st." Then the biggest and possibly the slowest kid in the class says, "did he just say O-o-o-october 1st? O-o-o-october 1st is my birthday." I said, "Yeah he did say October 1st, wow, so it's your birthday! Happy birthday." A moment of silence passes. "No-o-o-o my birthday is O-o-o-october 21st, I forgot the 2. I forgot the 2, it's O-o-o-october 21st."

As some of you know, (and maybe others of you don't) my birthday is just around the river bend. Many have asked "what do you want for your birthday?" or "what should we do for your birthday" or "how old will you be turning," lately I've been thinking I peaked at 25 for birthday wishes to be granted cause that's when everyone at my party had a kitty face drawn on them (as demonstrated here).

I almost gave up on epic birthday celebrations but then whilst discussing this subject with my roommates an idea was born. And I know what I want for my birthday, and I know what we're going to do for my birthday. And I want you to come, and you're going to want to come. Let's just say it's going to be the match dot com of the decade.

When I first met Austin I thought- “who does this guy think he is?” but after minutes, hours, of talking with him about himself I realized “oh he thinks he’s PERFECT”….and not just HIM but everything he did was perfect. While I was in line at the grocery store tonight, I looked down at the two items I was holding and suddenly felt embarrassed- nay, profiled, categorized (not racial but still with just as much stereotyping). I became hyper-aware of my surroundings, I glanced back and forth from follow customers in the self check out line hoping no one pay any mind to me. I tried to act causal. Alas, my wish went ungranted. The guy next to me looked over and I could read his judgmental thoughts so clearly, "26-35, not married, living alone, suffering from seasonal depression." The combination of these 2 items had such power as to throw me in a social status undesired by the majority of women in the US .

I went to with . I ran. not very long or very fast. I came home got ready and picked me up. We went to 's for the u.s. vs Ghana soccer game. it got loud, then it got real long, then it got , and I got tired. dropped me off home. and I went to my mom's house to pick up couch. We met and there. Told some jokes, put the couch in 's truck (that guy is so christian and i don't mean morris). met us back at my house. Getting the couch inside the house was difficult. Once inside the house it took 2 hours of trying, turning, laughing, yelling, pushing, putting holes in the wall to realize- it wasn't going to fit in the tv room. so now the couch is in some random hallway. went to 's wedding reception. I saw old friend and they were delightful. met at urban blouse fitters. I bought some pants for $9.00. went and saw grown ups... boring. drove me home and gave me some brotherly advice.

What a nice Saturday. Thanks summer time.

I got to follow Cassie around for a day. I went to my old job and I loved seeing all the kids so much. those little mother effers, I miss them.

I also had dinner with Art! and matt stinger.

I love my roommates in Seattle. They are wonderful. I miss them so much.

It was a very short trip and I wasn't able to see everyone I wanted to (Wendy, Chad, Hans, more Imri) but It was enjoyable nonetheless (who knew nonetheless was one word... I didn't until this moment).

My friend Bobby and I were avid concert buddies, I said to him do you dare me to ask someone if I can buy their shirt off them? you see, every time I went to a concert it was inevitable that I would see someone with a shirt I wanted (i.e. this or this). So I devised a plan to just buy shirt off people's backs. Bobby, knowing my plan, dared me to. So I found a good looking shirt on a tall red headed boy and said, "hey can I buy your shirt off you?" He laughed and reply "no. my grandpa gave me this." I pressed him a little more, but he would not sale that effen shirt. and we've been friends ever since.

The brief introduction: it was near the end of junior year, classes were in session. I was out in the hall wondering and there's this guy with a Weezer shirt. I said, "oh you like weezer." and he said something like "yeah. the have a new album coming out." BAM! that's when I knew I gotta be friends with that guy.

fast forward to the first week of senior year >>

I was in some arts class that was boring and only consisted of sweet bros. I ask my teacher for the hall pass, I needed a break. as I was walked around halls I ran into Tim. Our conversation was very brief, I ask "what class do you have right now?" he said, "creative foods." As soon as he walked away I walked straight into the counseling office and said, "I need to get into creative foods, so can we change my schedule." 20 minutes later I walked into Tim's class.

And we've been best friends ever since.

here are some highlights of today.

1.

this little guy has been my best friend during recovery

2. The Glenns came over for a visit!! (and if your wondering, yes I gave them each my business card)

3. I love overhearing what my mom says to her husband. She got a new washer and dryer is so excited. After she did the first load of laundry she said "Oh Dave it works like a charm! it's charm school! our new washer and dryer are charm school!"

4. my mom's home teachers came over. It's been so long since I've been present for family ward home teachers.

and 5. I got two kitties tucking me in

I know I should really get over kitties, but it's so hard when they are so cute...
