An autobiography.

I’m 30. That’s weird to say. It sounds old, but I don’t feel old. My body tries to tell me I’m 30 with backaches and demand for sleep at ten at night. I guess I really am thirty, an adult of sorts. So what I have done with 30 years of life? Let me first list the worldly accomplishments to gain some creditability. I’ve earned an Associate’s, Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. I’ve bought two cars and have a full time salaried job. I work as a therapist at school for trouble teens. Oh, and I’m happily married with one cat. Geez, now I am really starting to sound like an adult. The funny thing adults scare me; well let me back up, parents scare me. They seem un-relatable. What do I talk to them about? Their mortgages? Their kid’s allergies? The whole thing is nerve raking. Which makes doing family therapy changeling for me- no, not changeling, an accomplishment. I’m also afraid of heights, but love rock climbing. I guess, in a sense I’m a brave 30 year old, choosing a career and a hobby that push me to face my fears. Either brave or stupid, but I would argue my Master’s degree disproves the latter.

Anyways, now you know where I am let me tell you about where I came from, so you get the whole picture. Things in my past still affect me today, as much as they are in the past the always seem to creep into my present mind without me knowing. I grew up poor. I remember my mom using food stamps. I remember our water getting turned off because my parents didn’t have enough many to pay the bill. Nowadays I find myself hiding money around the house (we are talking $100 dollar bills here, 50’s over there). I love to put money in my savings. If I want to buy something for myself that is “expensive” (usually anything over $50) I have to consult my husband to make sure “I’m being responsible.” My parents divorced when I was in ninth grade. It was and is a messy divorce. I would often hear my dad say my mom was “too emotional.” The word “emotional” became something to fear and had such a negative connotation to it. Growing up I would often worry if I was “too emotional.” I mean, I cried when I found out my high school crush Jon Faux didn’t like me back. Was that too emotional? Presently, I find myself tripping up on this same worry. I cried the other day due to stress, does that make me too emotional? Ugh! I guess the past will always find it way to sneak in. I’ve found accepting the past and getting a cat is best way to move along toward the future. Take it from me, I’m an adult of sorts.

I threw my back out

I've been in bed for the last 2 days. I called president Obama, he and congress passed a law stating that I need to stay in bed until I get better. Also included in the law was the Anti-Lakers Act, which makes it illegal for any Lakers fan or team member to travel outside of the greater Los Angeles area.

Brian Williams

Brain Williams is funny.

Local Stand up

We went to wise guys comedy deli (nothing inside suggested it was a club) tonight. It was open mic night and out of the 20 guys (and one girl) only 3 were worth while. The girl was not one of them. Which brings me to my next point- can there be funny stand up girls in Utah? Or are we still that far behind socially?

see I'm blogging more.

While waiting

Last night my brother and his family took me out to dinner for my birthday. While we waited for a table my 2 nephews and I played duck duck goose. My 5 year old nephew plays it this way "Little foot, Little foot, Petrie!" I liked the way my 3 year old nephew plays it, "tiger, tiger, TIGER!!!" while touching both my head and my other nephews head.

In Defense of Food: A Book review

I recently finished the book In Defense of Food. First off I know what you're thinking "Shit, this girl can read?" Don't worry it was an audio book. I have too many Text books I supposed to be real reading.
I hate processed food now we'll see how long that lasts.
I am more conscious about what I eat and ask myself "is this even real food?"
I've started to re-examine my relationship with food which Paula says is similar to those of anorexics

I'm giving it 4 out of 5 Photoshopped kittens.

I recommend it!!

I had a good day.

I dog sat. He helped me the lawn. I love that dog. Then and I made a breakfast of weird pancakes and fresh.
After I took to the dog park and then back to his owner,. I cleaned when I go home. After (minus Blair bear) went and got a treat at . Later I went with Travis. I climbed a few 5-7s and did some . I had a lot of fun. We were in the area so I stopped by my mom's and saw . To wrap up the night we played a little .And now it's tired in here .

I'm honestly going to miss it...A lot

My last day of work is coming up and I am very sad. Now who will I play basketball with? Who will I get all my hip slang from? Who will teach me about SLC gangs? Who will yell "f*** you!" and "B@#$&!" to me? Now who will teach me bad words in Spanish? Now who will talk incisively to me about zombies, guns and knives?

The Bible: a book review

After months of reading, I finally finished The New Testament; again. I love the four gospels the most. I'd like to learn more about Peter, he's my type of guy. He's was a passionate person who LOVED the savior. I like that.

Paul seems nice enough, he was into writing letters, being imprisoned and such.

Revelations is confusing.

Why does the end of the new testament say "The End"? I find that funny. Maybe they just put it there so people would have a sense of completion after reading so much.

All in all I feel very blessed for being Christian. I am very grateful for the continual blessings I receive and for the kittens.

CATrastrophe in the Cinema

I love going to movies. The whole thing is such an event. Sneaking in candy, being mad at how much tickets cost, sitting in a large dark room letting yourself get caught up in the cheesy romance or action. And the previews! Oh the previews!! I just love it. But some one out there is trying to ruin OUR movie experience! And I'm pissed. Everyone knows you go to the movie on time to see the previews. The previews set the mood, and often when it comes to Nicholas Cage movies they're better than the movies themselves. Some idiot in the higher ups in Megaplex Theaters has decided to neglect fully dimming the lights during previews. Whoa whoa whoa, NO DIM ON THE LIGHTS? We want the full experience! Turn the lights completely off you nimwits! If people come in late and can't see that's their own damn fault. Plus they can use whatever version of the iphone they have to light their way to their seat.

And it get's worse. I don't want to push anyone into an episode of depression, but it gets worse. Stay strong and read on. After they're done showing the previews in the well lit theater they show TWO local commercials. How can one get into the movie watching mood when we can still see everything around you and then these local commercials throw you back into the reality of being in Utah and completely destroyed the movie experience!!! I shant go to a movie again... at full price. BLAH.

I digress.

Real nice day

I went riding with Van and Beau after work today. Image me on my little 150cc scooter with awkwardly straight poster next to Van and Beau on their 1000cc bullet bikes. This outing up'ed my street cred, even at the sacrifice of Van and Beau's reputation (which I truly appreciate). I just kept laughing and giggling at what this look like to others.

(this was the best picture I got. That's Beau's leg, my scooter, and Van's tire)

I'm also watching my dad's house while he's out of town. He's got lots of animals, which I love. I walked these little guys after I fed the donkey, buffalo, and zebra.

Someone Tell Dave Stevens

Dousing a jacket in cologne and leaving it behind may work for the average guy and although I am flattered by this leave-behind gesture, I expect more from a man of his stature. Dave Stevens is not average. The guy works at Goldman Sachs and works out to p90x EXTREME and on the weekend works the pole under the stripper name of Gold Man's Sacks.

At this rate Dave, you're not getting your jacket back.
